Tote

Tote

This tote was felted -- which means you knit it really huge, and then stick it in the washing machine on hot for a while until the fabric gets really dense. Still needs a lining -- but I'm pretty happy with it for a first non-scarf project!

Scarves!

Scarves!

My first two works -- one in a green I love but can't wear... Haven't decided who will get it, and the other in the periwinkle my mother chose for herself.

Noro Diagonale

Noro Diagonale

Via Diagonale from knitty.com made with Cascade 220 and Noro Silk Garden. The horizontal striping of the Noro distracts a little from the herringbone... but in a good way, I think. Afraid of stretchy handles on such a big bag, I ran some rayon cord thru the handles. Wish I had thought to do it before felting! A few lessons learned in lining, too, which will come in handy.

chunky cable turtleneck

chunky cable turtleneck

From Fall '04 Rebecca, in Rowan Plaid "Sea Thistle." Given as a birthday gift to my friend Olivia. Love it, but can it ever be worn in L.A?

Yorick (skull scarf from knitty.com)

Yorick (skull scarf from knitty.com)

My sister says she'll send me a picture. It's cute and all, but not as cute as the pattern photos would have you believe. I suspect heavy use of soft focus.

Really cute baby cardigan

Really cute baby cardigan

Raglan, tie-front cardi made from the indispensible "Knitter's Handy Book of Sweater Patterns" in a dark seafoamy green... but the icing on top were the cuffs, hem, and tie in Anny Blatt Albatros. My favorite novelty yarn of all time. And I don't like novelty yarn. Nothing says "little gir's sweater" like fluffy AND sparkly.

Multidirectional Diagonal Scarf -- Schaefer Helene

Multidirectional Diagonal Scarf -- Schaefer Helene

Nothing says "last minute knitted gift" like a multidirectional diagonal scarf in a luxury yarn. And really, with yarn as luscious as Schaefer Helene, you really don't want to mess with it.

Might I add, that if I had to name one yarn I would like to lie around naked on, Schaefer Helene would probably be that yarn.

Multidirectional Diagonal Scarf -- Noro Silk Garden

Because even an L.A. cat can never be warm enough.

But seriously, I wear this one a lot. It was one of my very first FOs.

big ol dad hat

big ol dad hat

Hat to replace gawdawful yellow polarfleece Green Bay Packers hat my father wears. Made up the pattern as I went along on US9s with 3-ply Bartlett Yarns tweed.

French Market Bag

French Market Bag

I made the French Market Bag from knitty.com with a base and handles of Gjestal Naturgarn in a french blue color and the body of the bag in Noro Shinano in a blue/red/grey colorway and, again, had to gift it before I could get a picture taken. I liked how it turned out, but I'm not convinced of the utility of the French Market Bag for my life. I like a little more structure in a bag.
