Why I love the restaurant supply store: Reason 263
well, first, a note about my recent knitting "issues." I've had some setbacks. I sort of hit a wall. I wrote a long, angst-ridden post last week, but couldn't bring myself to post it. All about how I had royally f-ed up something, and how everything else seemed cursed and how I wanted to start something new to get over it, but I was like a broken down car that makes a lot of noise (whirrr, whirrrrrrr, whirrrrrrr) when you turn the key, but will never actually start.
Whatever. I'm so over that. You know what I need to get over my knitting angst? Something else I want to procrastinate from doing so badly that even the most frustrating knitting seems much more fun. I've got a big brief to write (and soon!), which forced me to cancel fun Friday night plans, but when I sat down to write, I ended up with this:
The beginning of a pomatomus in Shepherd Sock Baltic Sea. Doesn't look like much, but took me a while. Since I have giant feet, and since I'm working on size 0s, I had to cast on 96 stitches. And I still might have to give them to someone with skinnier calves. And I hate ribbing. But last night I hated it less than working on this motion to dismiss.
Oh, and that reason 263: menu covers! In further procrastination efforts, I stopped by the restaurant supply store this morning for gifties for Mom in WI (who I'll be vising over the holiday weekend) and came across those ubiquitous vinyl menu covers -- PERFECT for holding patterns! They lie flat when open, hold 6 pages -- enough for most patterns (or two) -- and will easily stuff into a bag with all my other stuff without ripping apart the pages. Yay! This is my first, but I have a feel ing I'll be picking up some more. Lots of WIPs, you know...
(obviously the pattern in the cover is not pomatomus. Rather, it's the Drops tank I'm planning on working on on the plane next week. The Garnstudio site is a great procrastination device, too!)
